In 1998, Nick Cave was invited to speak at the Vienna Poetry Academy. His topic of choice - the love song. Nick’s written hundreds of songs in his career, most of them love songs. In this lecture, Nick muses on the meaning, purpose, enduring nature and fragility of the love song.
It’s an illuminating insight to his creative process, his perspective on why sadness and suffering comes hand in hand with the magic and joy of love and his unique ability to find beauty in the darkest of places.
This is a special studio recording and includes five unique recordings of his songs 'West Country Girl' (the one written about PJ Harvey), 'People Ain't no Good', 'Sad Waters', 'Love Letter', and 'Far From Me'.”
