Tex Perkins is Double J Artist In Residence this October
Australian rock’n’roll royalty Tex Perkins joins Double J as our Artist In Residence this October.
Whether you’re into Beasts Of Bourbon, The Cruel Sea, Tex, Don & Charlie, his solo work, the pummelling noise of Thug or any of Perkins’ other innumerable musical projects, there’s a good chance there’s something in his immense catalogue of music for you to obsess over.
The man is a larger than life embodiment of rock’n’roll in all its forms. His presence is often intimidating, but he is also adept at writing and performing with great sensitivity.
He’s one of our most beloved rock stars, but also a veracious lover of music, so we’re very excited to bring him on board as Artist In Residence throughout October.
Across five shows Tex shares his record collection with us; playing songs and telling stories from his past and the present. You’ll hear music that soundtracked key chapters in his life, songs that have opened doors for him and artists whose work has had a life-long impact.
His recently released his memoir, Tex, is a warts-and-all insight into his esteemed and multi-faceted career. From the squats of Sydney city to hundreds of shows in theatres as Johnny Cash, Tex highlights some of the most prominent moments of his life.
He’ll take us to all these places and more when he programs a month of shows on Double J this September, with a decidedly Tex selection of quality music and some pretty great stories to go along with it.
Hear Tex Perkins as Double J Artist In Residence, each Sunday from 3pm and repeated Thursday from 10pm. Or listen any time online.
